July 2004

Though not a goat breeder, this wonderful and kind lady is my daughter's sister-in-law, and her disease is having a devastating effect on the lives of many, many people, including our whole family. Windy and her husband, Gary, have been there when my daughter and son-in-law lost their daughter Stormy to a birth defect. The love and care they have shown my daughter and her children has been nothing short of wonderful. Always there for others, Windy now needs desperate help of her own. In September of 2003, when most people are focused on the excitement of a new school year starting, Windy and Gary's family found themselves focused on something entirely different, and far from happy. Something that destroyed any joy of the prospect of a new and challenging school year for her 3 sons, 19 year old Shad, 15 year old Jacob, and 13 year old Levi. Instead they found themselves focused on the horrifying news that Windy had been diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease with Pulmonary Fibrosis. A devastating, and often fatal disease, Windy's lungs are unable to properly fill with and hold the life-giving oxygen we all need to live. Hospitalized several times, undergoing surgeries along with any and every treatment available, the doctors could do nothing more than tell the family that the only hope left was to have a lung transplant. Disabled and on 3 1/2 liters of oxygen continuously, Windy is no longer able to work or contribute towards her treatment.
A self-employed small contractor in the Quad Cities area of Iowa and Illinois, Gary has the same situation that many self-employed persons face and that is no medical insurance. Already the medical bills are up to thousands of dollars. Facing a transplant that could cost upwards of $500,000, they are in real need of help. This is where I hope that all of our wonderful goat people can help. We are always ready to donate and bid on benefit auctions to help clubs put on goat shows, often other peoples medical problems, fires and dog attacks, whatever the cause, we are always there to help each other. Though not a goat breeder, this is a wonderful opportunity for us to show this family the loving and generous hearts that so many of our goat people have. Therefore, I am asking you to donate to this auction and if unable to do that, to please bid on the items donated, keeping in mind, that every penny is going toward the efforts of many to save a dear person's life. There is a web site online with more information on Windy and her fight for her life. It is located at http://www.windyslung.org Please go and read more on this disease and the
devastation it is causing this dear family.

All checks or money orders for items you have won are to be made out to
"Windy Felsing's Lung Foundation" and are to be sent to myself, Anita
Gilley. When payments for donated items are received, I will notify the
seller that your item has been paid for. If it is not clearly stated in the
item description, please contact the seller to obtain shipping costs and
remit this amount to the seller. After I notify the seller that I have
received your payment, I will send the money straight to the US bank, US
Bank, which is instrumental in distributing the funds for the sole purpose
of the account. In other words, nobody can go in and withdraw monies from
the account without showing proper criteria that it is for expenses incurred
through the transplant.

My daughter, Julie Felsing, will keep an accounting of money raised so that
we can let you know how much your efforts have done for this family and its
fight for Windy's life. As able, you will receive thank you notes acknowledging your contributions to this more than worthy cause.
We want to be completely forthcoming about any help Windy has received so
far. On December 15th, 2003, Windy was declared disabled and began receiving
Social Security Disability. With that, she also receives Medicaid insurance
through the state of Iowa. However, this will only cover 40-60 % of the
transplant, depending on how much it costs. The hospital stay will be
covered more than the medications and supplies that she needs. A benefit
was just held for Windy by the town of DeWitt, which raised $9,000 for her
fund.

Thank you, all of you, those who donate, and those who bid, for your
kindness and loving display of your concern for this family's plight.
Anita Gilley
