Gemini Goats
After we settled here in the remote boonies of south central Virginia we decided to raise goats. My dear husband loved Alpines and so he bought our first Alpine, Ziegen-Mensch Jackie. Well.... thats all it took for me and I fell in love with her. Jackie is very snobby by the way. Well.... I decided to improve on her breeding and breed a herd of Alpines with her beautiful qualities and I needed a herd name. We tossed around ideas for a farm/herd name. We tried triple B for Bruce, Bernice and Boo (our black lab), but that somehow didn't sound right. Then we tried Hidden Acres, that didn't sound right. So one night I was talking with my friend Lynn and she suggested Gemini Goats. "Hey..... that might just work!" The reason for the name came from a annual bithday party we had as myself, my hubby, Lynn, her hubby and 3 of our other friends were all born within a few weeks of each other starting in late May and ending in June. We were all geminis so we called our annual get together the Gemini Get Together. Well.... it made sense, because Bruce bought Jackie on his birthday, Jackie was born during the gemini sign. So thats how we ended up being Gemini Goats. I was desperate for a name and it sounded right.

Grim's Faerytale Farm
I've believed in Faeries since I was a child, and am still convinced that they reside happily here with our family and animal pals. Since I changed my last name when I got married, our farm and herd name was a natural! Having a small farm of my own has been a dream come true for me, very much a faerytale, complete with a happily-ever-after ending! Caring for animals is my passion, and I have horses, goats, sheep, rabbits, ducks, chickens, dogs and cats! My herd of thirty-five of so goats are raised for pets, milk and fiber. I've been raising goats for over ten years. I sell a limited number of Nigerian Dwarf and Cashmere kids to approved homes -- those who are knowledgeable about caring for goats and/or those who would sincerely like to learn. We offer support and resources to those who purchase animals from us, as it is our heartfelt wish that our animals should continue to live a long, happy life and bring their new owners the delight and joy we always feel in the presence of our goat-friends! We also breed American Brecknock Hill Miniature Cheviot Sheep and should have both white and black lambs available in Spring of '06! In addition, I breed one or two gorgeous Quarter Horse foals for sale annually, out of my mares and sired by our truly exceptional "foundation" registered QH stallion "Chex My Cal Bar". The faeries have been so good to us! Please feel free to contact me (Margot Grim)via e-mail with sale inquiries or animal care-related questions/comments anytime! I always love to talk "critters"!

Stonycroft
We are just getting started with purebred Nubians, but have had the farm name "Stonycroft" for about ten years. Our fourteen acres in central New Hampshire is stony (of course!) and while half the property is wooded, the other half is a field enclosed with stone walls (which may be pretty but are not practical!). We learned that "croft" has several meanings, one being a small enclosed field. So it seemed fitting to name our place "Stonycroft". We are Greg, Kathleen, and Juniper Sanderson -- starting (back) with goats in the year 2000. We are working a bit at a time on getting set up to be a commercial dairy, hopefully will have that going full-time in a year or so. We also raise American Working Farmcollies, and Greg is a beekeeper.
